CRMT: Experts in ISC and ISM measurements for over 20 years. From project creation to measurements on instrumented vehicles using a PEMS, CRMT supports you with confidence and objectivity.
20 years of experience in regulatory measurements.
For many years, CRMT has leveraged its expertise in alternative fuels and regulatory measurements to support manufacturers and engine builders. The objective is clear: to accurately quantify their engine emissions to ensure compliance with current European regulations (Euro VI and Stage V). This approach provides clients with reliable, comparable, and directly actionable data.
Furthermore, CRMT offers you comprehensive support for your measurement projects. We handle everything from drafting the specifications and finding a vehicle with the required engine to installing the measurement equipment on the vehicle and conducting the tests. Our engineers then prepare a reliable and objective report, ready for submission to the authorities.
ISC and ISM Measurements: Testing as Close as Possible to Real-World Conditions.
CRMT conducts In-Service Conformity (ISC) measurement tests using predefined routes that are representative of vehicle usage scenarios, whether on roads, highways, or in extra-urban areas. The In-Service Monitoring (ISM) test cycles, on the other hand, are conducted directly at the operator's site, under real operating conditions.
Data is collected using state-of-the-art equipment: the Portable Emission Measurement System (PEMS), installed on-board the vehicle. It allows for the capture of data such as exhaust flow, vehicle parameters, the route taken, as well as the measurement of specific pollutants: Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Hydrocarbons (HC), Carbon Monoxide (CO), or Particle Number (PN). Certain pollutants are measured depending on the requirements of the current standard. For example, for an ISM measurement cycle, we do not measure PN.
The use of a PEMS specifically allows for results that are representative of the various factors that can impact engine behavior, such as: weather, driving habits, road and traffic conditions, etc.
Ensuring compliance with European regulations
The ISM and ISC campaigns conducted by CRMT have the main objective of verifying the proper compliance of vehicles with current European regulations. The measurements taken allow for the confirmation of adherence to the required emission thresholds and anticipate future regulatory developments.
Many engine and vehicle manufacturers already rely on CRMT to validate their procedures, whether for ISC tests for heavy-duty vehicles or ISM for non-road machinery. For each campaign, CRMT provides comprehensive, reliable, and objective reports to facilitate the use of results by technical and regulatory teams.
ISM measurement campaigns across Europe
Since 2024, CRMT has been deploying its ISM measurement expertise throughout Europe, working on off-road vehicles. Our teams travel to instrument and test vessels, construction machinery, and even agricultural tractors at their operating sites.
Campaigns have already been conducted in several European countries, notably in France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, and Norway, illustrating our ability to operate in highly varied usage contexts and vehicle fleets.
CRMT's international development
For several years, CRMT has been experiencing gradual expansion, driven by the recognition of its expertise in regulatory emissions measurement. By operating in many European countries today, CRMT supports renowned engine manufacturers in their measurement needs. This support will also continue in 2026, with tests extending beyond Europe.
Thus, CRMT applies the expertise developed through all its activities, allowing it to be among the only test centers on a global scale capable of conducting tests internationally, while maintaining high reliability and exacting standards.
